THE THROUGH TRIP. 28th. March 1969.
Party:- I. Wilkinson, H. Headech,
D. Creedy, C. Hadwin, D.
Baldwin, Mark and Brian.
After
unsuccessfully trying to raise a party for a Top Sink /Lancaster exchange, (something
to do with water I think) it was decided to take several new members on a
through trip to County Pot. We set of as usual quite early and everyone was
down Lancaster pitch by 3 o'clock. Upon reaching Fall Pot the party halted a
while to gaze at its impressive waterfall and plunging cascade. A short time
was also spent at Bob's Boss, here most of the party chose to admire the
excellent cluster of stals; and curtains, except for
the wet suit clad member of the party who had over heating problems. Continuing we soon reached Diamond Hall, suddenly one of the party requested that he
would like to see the Painters Palette again and being the appointed guide I
could have hardly refused the man ... The
way onward went rather surprisingly uneventfully except of course for the guy
in the wet suit whose face kept going a funny red colour. Stop Pot, and a
raging welcome from Easegill followed, this proved to be our undoing of our leading
hard-man. A rather moist trip up Pierces' and the climb over Ignorance is Bliss
took the grin off several faces, especially one lad who informed me that this
was his first cave! However, everyone
arrived safely out to a flooding Easegill, including one well trained novice.
Of course everyone knows that this is an eight hour trip anyway.
