†† Aim: To extend the known sump first dived by Alec Fletcher about two years ago and to try and connect it with a small sumped. Side. Passage in Wilf Taylorís almost opposite the belay of the line which goes through Bull Pot. Dye testing earlier in the week by Dave Elliot confirmed that the water does connect. ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††. ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††. ††40 metres of gradually lowering watery passage ended the crawl to the start the sump (bolt belay on the left). The dive started with a slight squeeze over gravel then the passage grew wider and deeper. to a maximum of -2 metres to provide easy going via. a right hand bend at 20 metres and numerous small air-bells to a large air bell 28 metres in. This was the extent of Alecís earlier dive. ††††††††††††††††††††††††.††††††† . ††. ††Similar passage beckoned ahead in the absolutely perfect visibility, and the diver looked forward to a continuing easy dive in new passage, hopefully to soon pop out in Wilf Taylorís. Unfortunately this was not to be so. 5 metres later the sump ended in air filled passage which veered away almost at right angles to the left and which, after another 5 metres became far too low for anything other than an animated pancake. The passage was seen to continue for at least another 5 metres in the same form (about 200mm high) with no sign of any increase in height. The connection must be very close as the support team, which had moved to Wilf Taylorís, could hear knocking as the diver marked the limit of his explorations.††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† . ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††For reasons which will be explained to Alec at a later date, the line was removed. ††††††††††††††††††††††††.††† Thanks to Dave, Dick, Nick and Goldie for their help.
